Job summary

Veta Virtual is seeking a CISO/VP Data Security for a high-growth fintech/cryptocurrency client. This is a remote, leadership role with full program ownership, reporting to senior leadership.

The candidate will drive regulatory readiness, policy and control selection, and risk management across a distributed tech stack. The position requires 10+ years in cybersecurity, strong regulatory experience, and deep collaboration with DevOps and incident response teams.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in cybersecurity with direct ownership of a security program.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field; a master's degree is preferred.
• Experience working with security, DevOps, and incident response teams.
• Experience in a highly regulated industry and direct work with regulators.
• Data warehousing and data analysis experience.
• Familiarity with AWS and container-based systems (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Proficiency in Python or Golang.
• Comfort using AI tools to support research and reporting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all cybersecurity matters across the company in line with laws and best practices.
• Lead the defense strategy and ensure controls are appropriate for technology and threats.
• Partner with operations and engineering to bake security into solutions from the start.
• Provide strategic cybersecurity guidance to shape major business decisions.
• Serve as the main contact with regulators during audits and ongoing compliance.
• Review and approve cybersecurity policies, procedures, and written supervisory procedures.
• Identify vulnerabilities and threats; audit critical security and continuity practices.
• Oversee selection, implementation, and monitoring of cybersecurity controls across systems.
