Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a highly capable aerospace engineer to join the Emerging Missions Flight Dynamics (EMFD) Department in a full‑time, on‑site role across multiple locations including Colorado Springs. You will deliver advanced flight dynamics analyses, develop new capabilities, and collaborate with partners to create modular solutions for national space programs.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Aerospace engineering (pursuing or conferred within last 12 months).
  • 0–1 year of industry experience.
  • Experience in space mission analysis and design, advanced astrodynamics, cislunar trajectory design and optimization, algorithm design, software development, and multi‑objective optimization.
  • Proficiency in C, C++, Python, Fortran, or MATLAB.

Responsibilities

  • Provide primary support for Cislunar Mission Design Section with high‑fidelity orbital mechanics.
  • Design and optimize impulsive and low‑thrust trajectories.
  • Analyze Traveling Salesman and Facility Location problems for mission planning.
  • Perform general astrodynamics analyses including orbit/covariance propagation and maneuver design.
  • Develop CONOPS and incorporate constraints into design and maturation of space systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering partners to deliver integrated solutions for customer requests.
  • Build and enhance flight dynamics tools and capabilities; use external tools as appropriate.
