Job summary

Insight Global is seeking an experienced Cisco Unified Communications (UC) Engineer to support and optimize our enterprise voice services in a large-scale production environment. You will manage CUCM, Unity, and Voice Gateways, while building automation with AXL APIs and scripting.

The role requires strong scripting, Splunk analytics, and deep understanding of SIP, dial plans, and voice quality. You will contribute to testing, documentation, and reliable operation of critical communications

Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on experience with Cisco UC environments (CUCM, Unity), voice gateways, and analog integrations.
  • Experience developing and executing AXL API scripts for automation, reporting, provisioning, and bulk administration.
  • Proficiency in Python, PowerShell or similar scripting languages.
  • Experience using Splunk for log analytics, monitoring, dashboard development, and operational reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of SIP, dial plans, call routing, and voice quality analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and support Cisco UC infrastructure (CUCM, Unity, gateways, analog solutions).
  • Develop automation and tooling via AXL APIs and scripting.
  • Troubleshoot using Splunk and other monitoring platforms; perform root-cause analysis.
  • Design, execute, and document QA, system integration, and regression testing for voice infrastructure changes.
  • Develop and maintain test plans, test cases, validation procedures, and rollback strategies.
  • Validate call flows, voicemail, gateway integrations, analog services, and emergency calling capabilities after changes.
  • Create technical documentation and runbooks.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Cisco Unified Communications (UC) Engineer with expertise in Cisco voice technologies, automation, logging/analytics, and testing. The ideal candidate will support, maintain, automate, and validate enterprise voice services in a large-scale production environment.

Required Skills & Experience
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
  • Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM/Call Manager)
  • Cisco Unity Connection
  • Cisco Voice Gateways (ISR)
  • Analog devices and integrations (ATAs, fax, paging, elevator phones, emergency phones)
  • Cisco certifications preferred (CCNP Collaboration, CCIE Collaboration, or equivalent)
  • Experience developing and executing AXL API scripts for automation, reporting, provisioning, and bulk administration
  • Proficiency in Python, PowerShell, or similar scripting languages
  • Experience using Splunk for log analytics, monitoring, dashboard development, troubleshooting, and operational reporting
  • Strong understanding of SIP, SCCP, dial plans, call routing, voice quality analysis, and troubleshooting
Key Responsibilities
  • Administer and support Cisco UC infrastructure, including CUCM, Unity, gateways, and analog solutions
  • Develop automation and operational tooling using AXL APIs and scripting
  • Perform troubleshooting and root-cause analysis utilizing Splunk and other monitoring platforms
  • Design, execute, and document QA, system integration, and regression testing for voice infrastructure changes, upgrades, patches, and migrations
  • Develop and maintain test plans, test cases, validation procedures, and rollback strategies
  • Validate call flows, voicemail functionality, gateway integrations, analog services, and emergency calling capabilities following system changes
  • Create technical documentation, operational procedures, and support runbooks
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Microsoft Teams Voice, Direct Routing, and SBC technologies
  • Knowledge of Cisco Expressway and Webex Calling
  • Experience in change management and production release validation
