Fremont Public Library in Mundelein, IL is seeking a Circulation Manager to lead the Circulation Department, oversee card issues, materials circulation, interlibrary loan, and shelving, and uphold library policies.

The role hires, trains, and supervises staff, coordinates with other departments, and ensures excellent customer service while meeting departmental goals and participating in professional development.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate circulation operations with other library services.
• Recruit, hire, train, supervise, evaluate, and dismiss Circulation staff with Assistant Director approval.
• Monitor and manage all financial transactions of the Circulation Department.
• Fill in for staff and perform day-to-day Circulation duties as needed.
• Plan and implement department goals with assistance of Assistant Director.
• Attend continuing education seminars related to Circulation tasks.
• Attend and participate in consortium and system-related committees and meetings.

The Circulation Manager manages the Circulation Department in its duties of issuing library cards, materials circulation, inter library loan, and shelving. Hires, trains, and supervises all circulation staff and enforces all library policies and procedures to ensure patrons receive excellent customer service.

• Coordinates circulation operations with other library services, working closely with the management and staff of all other library departments
  Communicates effectively in person in meetings as well as in writing via email and other channels
• Recruits, hires, trains, supervises, evaluates and dismisses Circulation department employees subject to the approval of the Assistant Director
• Closely monitors all financial transactions of the Department
• Fills in for staff as necessary: capable of performing the day-to-day job of any Circulation department staff person
• Plans and implements departmental goals and objectives with assistance of Assistant Director
• Attends regular continuing education seminars related to departmental tasks and objectives
• Attends & participates in consortium and system-related committees and meetings

Hours

This is a year-round, full-time exempt position at 40 hours per week. Hours vary according to duties, including nights and weekends.
