Job summary

City of Hopewell seeks an experienced civil engineer to administer complex CIP projects, coordinating with City staff, consultants, and contractors. The role involves design, management, inspection, and maintaining records for QA/QC reporting across CIP initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field with 4+ years' construction management experience.
• Supervisory experience required.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience accepted.

Responsibilities

• Oversees the design, management, and inspection of CIP projects.
• Supervises assigned personnel; directs, trains, and inspects the work of staff; evaluates staff performance.
• Develops scope of work, bid components, and special provisions for CIP projects.
• Assists Deputy Director in overseeing the City paving management program.
• Manages LAP-related processes with VDOT; ensures guidelines and schedules are met.
• Prepares IFB packages and coordinates with Purchasing Agent.
