Job summary

A consulting firm is seeking a Mainframe CICS Systems Programmer/Engineer located in Alpharetta, GA. This role is essential for all phases of CICS engineering and operations, requiring strong analytical and communication skills. The ideal candidate must manage a 24x7 CICS environment, providing support and maintenance as needed. Applicants should have in-depth knowledge of CICS performance tuning and experience interfacing with developers and operations teams while working in a large-scale Sysplex environment.

Qualifications

• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• In-depth knowledge in CICS performance & tuning, debugging and dump analysis.
• Must be comfortable working in a 24x7 large scale Sysplex and CICSPlex environment.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for all phases of CICS engineering, system and software maintenance.
• Interface with application developers and operations teams.
• Provide on-call support and maintenance outside normal working hours.

Skills

Knowledge of SMP/E, software upgrades and maintenance

Knowledge of all CICS parameters controlling performance in a CICSPlex

Experience with CICSPlex SM implementation & customization

Ability to perform problem determination, dump analysis and performance tuning

Knowledge of Cobol to support application developers

Understanding of CICS REST Services

Experience with Mainframe Websphere MQ

Web application support in a CICS TS V6.x environment
