Job summary

Cornerstone Chapel is seeking an Accountant to maintain accurate financial records and support reporting in line with GAAP. The role emphasizes integrity, confidentiality, and service to staff and congregants.

Responsibilities include journal entries, monthly closings, financial statements, budgeting support, and liaising with auditors. The ideal candidate has a BS in Accounting, 3–5 years’ experience, and knowledge of Microsoft Office and QuickBooks Online.

Qualifications

• BS in Accounting required; CPA preferred.
• 3–5 years of accounting experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; knowledge of QuickBooks Online.

Responsibilities

• Record entries in proper accounts.
• Review accounts for discrepancies and reconcile differences.
• Prepare adjusting journal entries.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Provide recommendations to improve daily operating procedures for better workflow/reporting.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP.
• Analyze business operations, costs, revenue and forecast future finances.
• Develop and document accounting systems leveraging current technology.
• Advise management on resource utilization and budgeting assumptions.
• Appraise and inventory real property and equipment; record details.
• Survey operations to identify accounting needs and propose solutions.
• Resolve congregant questions pertaining to contributions.
• Support auditor requests.
