Job summary

Santa Sophia Catholic Church in Spring Valley, CA is seeking a Maintenance Worker to perform routine and preventive maintenance on buildings, grounds, and equipment. The role ensures safety for staff and visitors and extends the life of facilities.

The position is full-time (35 hours/week, Mon-Fri) with some weekend hours, and requires repair skills, basic Microsoft Office use, and a valid driver’s license. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather is needed.

Qualifications

• Must have strong repair methods and general maintenance skills.
• Must read, speak and understand English proficiently.
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Follow the facilities maintenance schedule for daily and periodic tasks.
• Record and report completed repairs and items needing attention.
• Maintain and repair campus facilities, equipment and outdoor areas.
• Clean and maintain parking areas, sidewalks and walkways.
• Maintain and adjust irrigation systems.
• Set up and clean up campus events including chairs and tables.
• Regularly inspect campus with principal and facilities supervisor to identify actions.
• Assist the pastor, principal and staff with parish, school and preschool needs.
