Job summary

The Salvation Army in Knoxville seeks a dependable driver to operate trucks/van, transport Bell Ringers and kettles to mall locations, and return kettles to Area Command. The role requires maintaining vehicle cleanliness, accountability, and compliance with safety standards.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED and at least two years of driving experience, with the ability to read and communicate in English and work well with team members under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Drive trucks/van to malls and locations to drop off and pick up Bell Ringers and kettles.
• Return kettles to Area Command and maintain vehicle cleanliness.
• Ensure safety, security and accountability of vehicle and kettles during shifts.
• Organize routes to save time and fuel within the designated geographic area.
• Work cooperatively with coworkers and management and follow instructions.
• Meet attendance requirements and work outdoors in varying weather; handle 25–100 lb donations.

Job description

Drives truck and/or van to drop off and pick up Bell Ringers and pick up kettles at mall(s) and other locations. Responsible for driving the truck or van to take Bell Ringers to their locations and to pick up kettles nightly to return to Area Command. Operates the truck and/or van in compliance with established Salvation Army standards and State driving regulations; lifts, carries, loads, and unloads Christmas kettles; ensures the safety, security and accountability of the vehicle and kettles at all times; assists in performing work at Area Command as requested.Key responsibilities:Drive trucks to and from malls and other locations to drop off and pickup Bell Ringers and kettles and return to Area Command. Maintains cleanliness of truck and/or van inside and outside.Knowledge of the assigned geographic area.Ability to organize route in a manner that saves time and gasoline consumption.Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with co-workers and management at locations.Ability to follow instructions.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:Ability to meet attendance requirements.Work requires driving a vehicle daily with exposure to the outdoors where there are physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.Ability to operate commercial equipment,Ability to exert the physical energy required to performing duties given,Ability to perform continuous stooping, standing, and climbing as well as lift and carry and/or push/pull moderate (25 - 50 lbs) and possibly heavy (50-100 lbs) materials and donations.Education and Experience:A High School diploma or GEDA minimum of two years driving experience.Certifications/Licenses:A Valid Driver’s License Materials and EquipmentEqual Opportunity Employer: Veterans | Disabled
