Job summary

The Salvation Army Southern Territory is seeking a dedicated driver to operate vans and non-DOT trucks to support Christmas Angel Tree and kettle program activities in the California region. You will ensure safe transport of donations, bells, and volunteers, and keep vehicles clean and well-maintained.

You will also assist with setup and takedown of Christmas displays, help with routing and warehouse duties, and perform related tasks as needed to support holiday outreach efforts.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Two years driving experience minimum.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License is required.

Responsibilities

• Drive vans or trucks (Non-DOT) to transport bells, gifts, and donations to designated worksites.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of the vehicle both inside and outside.
• Assist with Christmas Angel Tree setup, distribution, and related logistics.
• Assist with janitorial and general cleanup duties at the Corps/warehouse locations as needed.

Drives vans or trucks (Non-DOT) to assigned locations for Corps/Area Command Christmas Angel Tree program donations and gifts and/or Christmas Kettle program transportation of bell ringers to designated worksites; ensures the safety, security and accountability of the vehicle and donations at all times.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:This job description should not be considered as all-inclusive. It isintended to identify the essential functions and requirements of this position. The incumbent maybe requested to perform job-related tasks other than those stated in this job description.• Drives vans to transport bells ringers to kettle work sites and picks up bell ringers at designated work siteback to Corps or Area Command locations.• Drives vans or trucks (Non-DOT) to and from assigned locations to pick up gifts and take to the Christmaswarehouse and/or Corps; organizes schedule pick-ups by most direct route to arrive at destinationsaccording to schedule.• Drives vans or trucks (Non-DOT) to homes, agencies, churches and any other designated location to pickup gifts, stockings, etc. for delivery to the Corps.• Maintains cleanliness of truck and/or van inside and outside.OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:• Assists with janitorial and general clean-up work at the Corps, warehouse facility or assigned location asneeded.• Assists with routing of traffic, when necessary, at the Corps and/or Area Command warehouse locationsduring Christmas Angel Tree distribution as requested.• Assists with setting up trees, tables and stands for Christmas display and disassembling at the end of theChristmas Season.• Performs other related work as required.MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT USED:• Truck and/or Van• Back Belt• Cleaning MaterialsKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:• Knowledge of The Salvation Army mission, philosophy, culture, protocol, and organizational structure.• Knowledge of the assigned geographic area.• Ability to organize route in a manner that saves time and gasoline consumption.• Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with co-workers and donors.• Ability to follow instructions.• Ability to present a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army.MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES:• Ability to meet attendance requirements.• Ability to read and communicate the English language effectively.• Ability to operate commercial equipment.• Ability to exert the physical energy required to performing duties given.• Ability to perform general cleaning activities for building.• Ability to safely transport employees in a van.• Ability to perform all duties with an understanding of the mission, ministry, philosophy, culture, andprotocol of The Salvation Army and conducts all duties in accordance with the ministry of the organizationand its Christian principles; conducts all communications and job duties with the highest level ofprofessionalism.• Ability to perform continuous stooping, standing and climbing as well as lift and carry and/or push/pullmoderate (25 – 50 lbs) and possibly heavy (50-100 lbs) materials and donations.WORKING CONDITIONS:• Work is performed outside with exposure to changes in weather and outdoor conditions including dirt,dust and/or disagreeable sights and odors.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:• High School diploma or GEDAnd• a minimum of two years driving experience.LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:• Valid Texas Driver’s LicenseEQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER: VETERANS | DISABLED
