Job summary

Union Gospel Mission is seeking a Resident Assistant to supervise client services and house management in a Christ-centered shelter in Spokane, WA. The role emphasizes compassionate service, safety, and clear communication among staff and volunteers.

You will oversee intake, security, and site operations while ensuring a healing environment. A relevant background, strong ethics, and commitment to faith-based service are essential; CPR/First Aid is preferred and TB clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Grounded and committed Christian: model servant-leadership in ministry to the poor, homeless and at‑risk individuals.
• Active body of Christ member and adherence to faith statements and values.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to instruct and support staff and clients.

Responsibilities

• Oversee shelter operations to align with policies and site procedures.
• Train and supervise volunteers and desk staff; handle high‑level inquiries and decisions.
• Maintain accurate data, reports and shift logs; attend meetings and trainings.
• Manage intake/exit processes; supervise medication handling and safety checks.
• Lead in security tasks, routines, and emergency responsiveness.
• Oversee site-specific duties like day room supervision and meal-time coordination.
• Coordinate with Chaplain and tours/volunteers as needed.
