Job summary

Southwestern Michigan College is seeking a Student - Choral Assistant to support the choir library and the Visual and Performing Arts area on campus in Dowagiac, Michigan. This on-campus role provides hands-on experience with music handling, cataloging, and event prep while earning hourly pay.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, independence, and strong organizational skills; prior clerical work is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalency.
• Must be able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Receive and log new music.
• Maintain and track music borrowed from area schools, churches, colleges, etc.
• Prepare a packet for the beginning of the semester (75-100 singers).
• Create a working directory/database on a computer.
• Collect and file returned music.
• Keep the choir room tidy and in order.
• Make copies of handouts, including concert schedules or music that is out of print or public domain.
• Help with concert set-up by moving risers, chairs, stands, etc.
• Take attendance at dress rehearsals and performances.
