Job summary

NSA's Linguists, known as Multidisciplined Language Analysts (MDLAs), are tasked with analyzing foreign language materials, translating, and transcribing to support SIGINT missions. LADP and direct hire paths are available based on skill level and experience.

Applicants must have ILR 2/2 in reading and listening for the target language. The position involves multiple tours across NSA offices, with a robust program that includes training and operational deployments.

Qualifications

• A degree in any field is acceptable.
• At least one year of relevant experience in translation, transcription, foreign language instruction, or analysis; or related intelligence work.
• Minimum language proficiency of ILR level 2/2 in reading and listening for the target language.
• Entry/Developmental: high school diploma or GED plus 4 years of relevant experience or an Associate's degree plus 2 years; Full Performance: higher education plus years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Offer policymakers and military leaders a window into the foreign language world by analyzing, transcribing, and translating key information.
• Research and understand other cultures, how they operate, and their role in geo-political contexts.
• Apply new techniques and develop creative solutions to address analytic problems by synthesizing large data sets from disparate sources.
• Demonstrate a firm understanding of communications and technology trends.
• Craft written and oral assessments that provide unique insights unavailable from other disciplines.
• Work independently and with other analysts across NSA and the Intelligence Community on research, analysis, and reporting.
