Job summary

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks a Chiller Mechanic (Energy Utilities Technician - Journey) to maintain and repair air-cooled and water-cooled chiller systems. You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot both control and mechanical issues, and execute repairs to ensure reliable cooling for campus buildings.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, cancellations of on-call duties, and facilitates a sign-on bonus of $4,944.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related experience.
• EPA Universal 608 Certification required.
• Certification(s) preferred or required as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on air-cooled and water-cooled chillers.
• Troubleshoot control and mechanical issues and make repairs to chillers.
• Address inspections and teardowns of chillers as needed.
• Maintain reliability of cooling towers, pumps, motors, and related equipment.
• Work within Chilled Water Systems across UNC campus.
