Job summary

Wayne-Sanderson Farms seeks a dedicated chiller operator to run the chiller, add chemicals as needed, and maintain PPE compliance in accordance with all policies and welfare guidelines. Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in poultry industry preferred.
• Basic arithmetic skills for measurements and checks.
• Ability to work unsupervised and follow procedures.

Responsibilities

• Check the main chill water meter reading at the start of shift.
• Inspect pipes and ensure chill water, transfer water, and red water are correctly connected.
• Ensure chiller, windmills, and transfer water pumps are running.
• Monitor chiller overflow continuously.
• Perform scheduled process control checks and follow chiller procedures.
• Check bird temperatures exiting the chiller.
• Conduct HACCP temperature checks every 30 minutes at end of chiller.
• Conduct post-chill foreign material checks hourly at post-chill.
• Monitor chillers' water levels and escalate if levels drop.
• Notify supervisors if bird temperatures reach 40°C or higher.
• Notify refrigeration staff and shift manager if water temperature rises.
• Know the water replacement procedure in case of chiller fecal failure.
