Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. is seeking a skilled HVAC Chiller Mechanic to support startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and aftermarket service for commercial HVAC equipment.

You will work directly with customers to solve facility inefficiencies and deliver service solutions that improve system performance. This hands-on role emphasizes safety, service quality, and technical problem-solving, with opportunities for growth through the Service Technical Academy (STA) and teamwork with branch

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of practical working experience on commercial and/or ducted HVAC products, air‑cooled and/or water‑cooled chillers, AHUs, or rooftop ducted units.
• Strong HVAC and mechanical troubleshooting experience.
• Ability to repair centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, and screw chiller system components.
• Must be a member of, or willing to join, the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States
• Universal EPA refrigerants license.
• Applicable state or local licensing.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
• Willingness to travel during the first six months for training.
• Ability to travel 10% to 20% to support branch customers with startup, commissioning, and aftermarket service troubleshooting.
• Willingness to enroll in training programs and pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiencies.
• Strong attention to detail and effective interpersonal, digital, and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform startup, commissioning, and aftermarket service on commercial and/or ducted HVAC systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair HVAC and mechanical system issues, including centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, and screw chiller system components.
• Prepare quotes to support recommendations and service solutions.
• Collaborate with local market mechanics and branch team members to support customer needs.
• Participate in training and knowledge-building activities to strengthen product and service expertise.
