Position Summary

The Children's Ministry Director provides spiritual and organizational leadership for Springbrook's ministry to children from infancy through 6th grade. Working collaboratively with staff, ministry leaders, volunteers, and parents, the Director builds a safe, welcoming, and Christ-centered ministry that helps children know Jesus, grow in faith, and participate in the life and mission of Springbrook Community Church.

Primary Responsibilities
Ministry Leadership and Development
  • Provide vision, direction, and day-to-day leadership for all children's ministry programs, weekend services, and special events.
  • Ensure ministry goals and strategies align with Springbrook's vision and mission to reach families for Jesus Christ and disciple them in faith.
  • Recruit, mentor, train, shepherd, and develop ministry leaders and volunteers, building healthy teams with clear roles and expectations.
  • Evaluate ministry effectiveness and identify opportunities to strengthen participation, volunteer engagement, and family discipleship.
Weekend Services and Program Coordination
  • Work closely with the Assistant Children's Director to ensure serving schedules are fully staffed, curriculum and materials are prepared for every class, and that all aspects of children's weekend services meet ministry expectations.
  • Provide staff support and collaborationwith the volunteer AWANA Ministry Director.
  • Coordinate children's ministry special events and support church-wide events involving children and families.
Safety, Check-In, and Administration
  • Oversee and maintain children's ministry health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Understand and comply with applicable Illinois mandated-reporter requirements, including required training, and follow the church's child-protection and incident-response policies.
  • Manage registration, check-in, attendance tracking, and related family information with accuracy and appropriate confidentiality.
  • Ensure volunteers follow established safety, screening, and child-protection practices.
  • Manage the children's ministry budget responsibly and maintain accurate ministry records and plans.
Family and Staff Partnership
  • Build trusted relationships with parents and partner with them in the spiritual development of their children.
  • Communicate clearly and consistently with children, parents, volunteers, and staff about current events, ministry needs, and future plans.
  • Participate as a collaborative member of the Springbrook staff team and contribute to the church's broader ministry goals.

Position Information
  • Classification: This is a part-time non-exempt position
  • Supervision: This position reports to the Pastor of Discipleship & Family Ministries
  • Schedule: Part-time, 25 hours per week. The ministry schedule includes regular weekend responsibilities and occasional special events.
  • Paid Leave and Other Benefits: Paid leave and other benefits are provided in accordance with applicable law and church policies.
  • The position may require extended periods of standing and the ability to lift items up to 25 pounds, with reasonable accommodation as required by applicable law.

Employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of the church's background screening and child-safety requirements, and a Leading from Your Strengths and Spiritual Gifts assessment. The Director must comply with all applicable child-protection policies, training requirements, and reporting obligations and must remain eligible to serve in a position involving minors.
