Position Information

$75,000 - $85,000 annually

Summary of Position

The Kids Director provides visionary and strategic leadership to our children's ministry across all Christ Church venues. This leader will develop and implement systems that equip and deploy leaders, partner with parents, and cultivate disciples who make disciples. As a leader of leaders, the Kids Director will invest in the growth and development of staff and volunteers while helping children encounter Jesus, grow in faith and community, and live lives of worship, service, and kingdom impact.

Essential Functions
  • 1. Cast Vision and Lead Strategy -
    Provide visionary and strategic leadership for Christ Church Kids across all venues. Champion ministry environments that help children and families grow in their love for Jesus, align with the mission of Christ Church, and support the spiritual formation of the next generation.
  • 2. Develop Leaders who Develop Leaders
    Recruit, equip, coach, and deploy staff and volunteers who can effectively disciple children and multiply leadership. Build healthy leadership pipelines and high-capacity volunteer teams, creating a culture where leaders are empowered to grow, serve, and develop others
  • 3. Partner with Parents for Faith Formation
    Champion the belief that parents, grandparents, and caregivers are the primary spiritual influencers in a child’s life. Create strategies, resources, and experiences that equip families to continue faith conversations and discipleship practices beyond the walls of the church.
  • 4. Cultivate a Discipleship Pathway for Children
    Lead the development and execution of age-appropriate discipleship experiences that help children encounter Jesus, engage scripture, build meaningful relationships, discover God-given gifts, and participate in God’s kingdom through their lives. Help kids move further up and further in, no matter the starting point.
  • 5. Build Healthy Ministry Systems and Teams
    Provide leadership for ministry systems, volunteer structures, and operational processes that support safe, effective, and sustainable ministry. Collaborate across departments to ensure children and families experience a cohesive discipleship journey at Christ Church.
Other Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the team that executes elementary ministry at the Oak Brook Campus, while also providing key leadership to other Christ Church Kids venues
  • Lead and develop teams that oversee ministry execution, curriculum development, and leadership training
  • Partner with the wider family ministry team to help execute outreach events that draw families into the life of the church
  • Actively partner with and collaborate with the wider family ministry team to ensure alignment on philosophy of ministry, discipleship strategy, ministry systems, and leadership development
  • Maintain protocols that ensure students are safe and protection policies are implemented
  • Participate in Christ Church staff life by attending all-staff meetings, church sponsored events, worship, training events and contributing to a culture of collaboration and encouragement
  • Support church-wide initiatives and special events – assist with Christmas, Easter, Mother’s Day services, outreach and mission events by serving in flexible roles beyond primary ministry responsibilities
  • Engage in ongoing personal and professional development through training, reading, coaching or mentoring, in order to grow as a leader and servant of Christ
  • Collaborate across ministries to ensure alignment, share resources, and strengthen unity on our staff teams.
  • Demonstrate and model Christ Church’s core values in daily work, relationships and service to others
  • Maintain a posture of flexibility by assisting with projects or assignments outside the immediate scope of the role when needed.
  • Contribute to a culture of grace, care and prayer by being available to support, encourage and pray with staff and volunteers and congregants as appropriate
Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Providing coaching, encouragement, and prayerful support
  • Offering clarity, accountability, and feedback for growth
  • Helping develop gifts and leadership capacity
  • Ensuring healthy rhythms of work, rest, and ministry balance
Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree

Experience: 5 years working in a large church or non-profit

  • Support and model individual spiritual formation i.e. Worship, Grow and Serve. (Weekly worship, prayer, scripture reading, small group, volunteering/service, etc.)
  • Regularly attends worship and participates in ministry events at Christ Church or a Christ Church campus unless exempted by Christ Church leadership
  • Seeks opportunities and participates in authentic worship, exalting and enjoying God as one of life’s greatest purposes and pleasures
