Job summary

The Eagle Valley Library District is seeking a Library Children’s Specialist to coordinate and assist with planning and presenting activities for children aged 0-11. The role emphasizes early literacy using Every Child Ready to Read while delivering routine library services and customer interactions.

Responsibilities include story times, programming, displays, PR content, and coordination of outreach support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree, equivalent work experience or completion of apprenticeship.
• One year of customer service work experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform library tasks during assigned customer service desk rotations.
• Maintain library shelf materials and keep public areas tidy.
• Assist patrons with standard library services.
• Assist patrons with library computer navigation, troubleshooting library device hardware issues, and introducing digital resources.
• Support staff with opening and closing procedures for both the library branch and outreach vehicles.
• Complete monthly check-in meeting with supervisor.
• Plan and conduct story times and other children’s programming as assigned.
• Engage with Project Outcome data and assessment tools to measure programming impacts and participation.
• Create displays, promotional materials and programming crafts.
• Participate in content creation for media outlets and the PR Librarian as assigned.
• Support staff with back of house library processes including courier, item maintenance, shelf inventory and deselection
