Childcare Teacher – Shaping Bright Future!

Status: Non-Exempt, Part-Time

Reports to: Childcare Director

Salary: $18.00-$21.11 per hour

Location: Oceanside, CA

This role is based in Southern California, specifically in Oceanside, CA (North San Diego County). It is located inside a military base installation. Base access is provided to civilian employees.

As part of our dynamic team, you'll help plan, lead, and immerse children in engaging group and individual programs. Your creativity will come alive as you set up indoor and outdoor activity spaces and materials, ensuring every day is a delightful adventure. What will you do
  • Design, implement, and facilitate an engaging curriculum that effectively promotes learning, development, and a positive experience for all participants.
  • Utilize effective child guidance and youth development techniques to ensure a supportive, enriching, and secure environment for every child.
  • Lead and manage diverse program activities, ensuring the individualized needs of each child are met through collaboration with parents and guidance from the supervisors.
  • Maintain the highest standards of safety and well-being for all children during both indoor and outdoor activities.
  • Conduct ongoing observations and evaluations of each child's progress and proactively contribute to continuous program enhancement and quality improvement.
  • Maintain a high degree of professionalism when interacting with parents. Participate in required parent-teacher conferences and foster strong relationships through clear and effective communication.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with the program team to ensure operational efficiency and maintain a well‑equipped, organized program site.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date program records and administrative documentation.
  • Eagerly participate in all mandatory family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and training sessions, serving as a dedicated and professional representative of the organization.
What experience and skills you will need to be successful
  • You must be at least 18 years old and possess one year of prior experience working with children, youth, or teens in a daycare setting.
  • Complete all required training within established timeframes and demonstrate competencies to maintain employment status. This includes orientation, Heart Saver Pediatric First Aid and CPR training, Great Academy and Teaching Strategies annual trainings, and approved Marine Corps Standardized Module Training.
  • Meet current health and sanitation requirements and successfully pass random drug testing, a criminal background check, driving record check, and employment reference background check.
Work Setting and Required Physical Activities

From sitting and standing to walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing stairs, you'll stay active and engaged throughout the day.

Occasionally lift and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds and prioritize and multitask your work and projects with a keen memory and analytical thinking.

Display sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to supervise children's activities safely, ensuring a world of wonder and play.

Show your good physical and mental health through annual health screenings, up‑to‑date immunizations, and tests as required.
