Job summary

Bay Presbyterian Church is seeking a part-time childcare assistant to provide safe, quality care for infants to preschoolers during weekday mornings. The role runs Monday and/or Tuesday mornings from 9:00-11:45AM during the program year (Sept–May) and reports to the Weekday/Weekend Childcare Coordinator.

You will contribute to a loving environment that demonstrates Christ’s love, follow prepared age-appropriate lessons, and participate in scheduled trainings.

Qualifications

• Past childcare experience helpful.
• Heart for children’s ministry and willingness to serve the Lord through childcare ministry.
• Satisfactory background check required.
• Ability to work in a team and adapt to changes.
• Ability to speak and read English.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe, nurturing childcare environment for infants, toddlers and preschoolers.
• Carry out age-appropriate lessons prepared in advance.
• See, hear and reflect Christ’s love in action while caring for children.
• Attend meetings and trainings as scheduled by supervisor.

Position Summary

The purpose of this position is to provide safe, quality childcare for our weekday early childhood ministries. This is a flexible position working either Monday and/or Tuesday mornings from 9:00-11:45AM during the program year which typically runs September through May.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

• Responsible for providing a safe, nurturing childcare environment for infants, toddlers and preschool age children
• Provide an environment where children can see, hear and feel Christ’s love in action
• Carry out age-appropriate lessons that have been prepared in advance
• Attend meetings and trainings when scheduled by your supervisor
• Follow teaching, discipline, and childcare guidelines set by Bay Presbyterian Church

Required Skills and Abilities

• Able to work in a team environment with a willingness to step in where needed
• The ability to be flexible in an ever-changing environment and to adapt to last minute changes
• Patience

Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience

• Prior childcare experience helpful
• A heart for children’s ministry and a willingness to serve the Lord through childcare ministry

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
• Able to sit on the floor and stand up from the floor
• Able to speak and read in English
