Description

Are you looking for a meaningful part-time role where you can make a positive impact on young lives? We are seeking enthusiastic and dependable Childcare Assistant to provide a safe, fun, and structured environment for children while their parents attend evening classes, small groups, volunteer meetings, and major church events.

In this role, you will care for children ranging from Nursery through 5th grade, implementing prepared curriculum and activities to ensure every child feels welcomed, secure, and engaged.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Structured Childcare: Deliver a structured and fun experience for multi-age groups (Nursery–5th Grade), smoothly transitioning kids between free play, lessons, and activities.
  • Curriculum Implementation: Lead age-appropriate lessons, crafts, and games using the curriculum prepped and provided by the Kids Ministry leadership team.
  • Safety & Security: Maintain strict adherence to our church’s child protection policies, including safe check-in/check-out procedures, classroom ratios, and bathroom/diapering policies.
  • Classroom Management: Keep a watchful eye on all children, managing behaviors gently and positively to maintain a peaceful, welcoming classroom environment.
  • Special Event Support: Provide excellent, high-energy childcare during designated special events and church-wide conferences throughout the year (e.g., Friday night events, weekend conferences, or holiday gatherings) as scheduled in advance.
  • Set Up & Clean Up: Assist with setting up classrooms before kids arrive and resetting the spaces at the end of the night (wiping down toys, organizing supplies, and ensuring rooms are clean for the next day).
Schedule & Expectations
  • Weekly Rhythm: This is a part-time position requiring consistent availability on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings (exact shift times will be discussed during the interview process, typically aligned with evening ministry hours).
  • Special Events: Availability to work occasional weekends or alternative nights for special events and conferences is required, with advance notice provided.
Qualifications
  • A warm, positive attitude and a heart for serving children and families.
  • Prior experience caring for children (babysitting, daycare, camp counseling, or church ministry) is highly preferred.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and engage confidently with kids of various ages, from infants to preteens.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a childcare team.
  • Must pass a comprehensive background check.
  • Must be actively attending Calvary PSL
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use office equipment for extended periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move materials up to 25 pounds.
