Childcare Coordinator - (Senior Activity Leader)
Location: Riverside, OH
Type: Part-Time/Non-Exempt
Hourly Rate: $17.23-$20.68
Note: This position works directly with children. Mad River Local Schools Before & After Care Program.
Position Summary:
Responsible for planning, developing, and monitoring all activities in school-age and day camp programs.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED; an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education from an accredited college or university is required.
- Must obtain a Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) or equivalent as determined by the YMCA Childcare Branch.
- CPR/AED, First Aid, and Oxygen certifications required within the first 60 days of employment and must be kept current.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with children, demonstrating the ability to motivate and supervise staff. Planning and program development skills are advantageous.
- Supervision experience required.
- Previous licensed childcare experience required.
- At least 1 year of office administration and customer service experience.
- Supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
- Valid driver’s license, insurable driving record, and reliable transportation are necessary for travel related to the role.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and email applications.
- Ability to report suspicions of abuse or neglect to appropriate authorities.

Essential Functions:
- Participate actively on ratio as a teacher/senior activity leader.
- Assist in planning, designing, evaluating, and implementing child care programs following YMCA and state guidelines.
- Manage program within budget constraints.
- Ensure quality, safety, and proper development of programs.
- Maintain desired enrollment numbers.
- Comply with Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) guidelines and cooperate with inspections.
- Complete annual inspections and maintain accreditation standards (NAEYC, NAA).
- Maintain records for CACFP and grant programs, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
- Ensure a clean, safe, and compliant environment.
- Ensure staff training requirements are met.
- Establish procedures for scheduling and substitute coverage.
- Communicate concerns or incidents to the Child Care/Program Director.
- Build relationships with members, participants, and community partners.
- Remain visible and engaged with participants.
- Recruit, train, and engage volunteers.
- Participate in program committees and events.
- Promote programs through marketing efforts.
- Possess a safe driving record to transport children securely.
- Maintain confidentiality of all sensitive information.
