Job summary

Palmyra is seeking a Part-Time Childcare Teacher to provide a safe, nurturing environment for children from 6 weeks to preschool. The role supports development across social, emotional, physical, and cognitive domains through age-appropriate activities and positive interactions.

You will work up to 20 hours per week, report to the Childcare Director, and collaborate with staff to maintain health, safety, and high-quality programming while following licensing requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; early childhood education coursework preferred.
• Experience working with young children is preferred.
• Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate practices.
• Ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers.
• Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to meet physical demands associated with caring for young children, including lifting, bending, and active supervision.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily care and supervision for infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children.
• Assist in planning and implementing age-appropriate learning activities that support child development.
• Create a positive, caring, and inclusive classroom environment.
• Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all children at all times.
• Follow all childcare policies, procedures, and licensing requirements.
• Maintain accurate attendance, feeding, diapering, and developmental records as required.
• Observe and document children's growth, development, and milestones.
• Communicate professionally with parents regarding their child's progress, needs, and daily activities.
• Assist children with feeding, toileting, handwashing, and other personal care needs.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary classroom environment.
• Monitor children's behavior and use positive guidance techniques to encourage appropriate social skills.
• Work collaboratively with the Childcare Director and other staff members to ensure high-quality care and programming.
• Participate in required training and staff meetings as assigned.
• Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow all health and safety procedures.

The Part-Time Childcare Teacher plays an important role in creating a safe, supportive, and enriching environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive while supporting the childcare needs of school employees and their families. This position is an up to 20-hour-per-week role that works closely with the Childcare Director and other childcare staff to provide high-quality care and supervision. This position could be for AM or PM duties only.
