Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Brandywine is hiring two Assistant Teachers to support our childcare program at the Octorara YMCA. One shift serves infants from 7 AM to 1 PM and the other serves preschoolers from 1 PM to 6 PM.

Maintain a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment; greet families; complete records; follow DHS procedures; collaborate with the lead teacher and director; promote healthy living and social responsibility.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; 2,500 hours of childcare experience preferred.
• 30 credit hours in early childhood or related field education, OR 15 college credits and one-year experience related to the care.
• Current CDA certificate is preferred.
• Maintain up-to-date DHS file; complete new hire trainings within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Maintain supervision of all students.
• Provide a safe, clean, and risk-free environment.
• Engage with the children to encourage development and involvement in activities.
• Maintain records: accident/incident reports, sign in/out sheets, attendance.
• Greet parents and children daily; report concerns to lead teacher or director.
• Use positive guidance to support children.
• Follow DHS procedures and assist others in doing so.
• Provide care for the needs of children.
• Ensure compliance with YGBW policies and procedures.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
