Job summary

Lutheran Social Services of Illinois (LSSI) is seeking a full-time Child Welfare Assistant to support children and families under the supervision of the program director. This role involves social work, group and outreach activities, with a Monday–Friday schedule and occasional weekends.

The position offers training, opportunities for advancement, and a rewarding nonprofit environment dedicated to healing, justice and wholeness for communities throughout Illinois.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• AA degree with two years of college preferred.
• Age requirement may apply.
• Record of compliance with the law and clearance on the Illinois CANTS.
• Basic knowledge of child development and parenting or equivalent life experience preferred.
• Demonstrate ability to communicate both verbally and in writing clearly.
• Access to reliable transportation for visits and to transport clients as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform all tasks as required in the written plan.
• Meet productivity requirements as established by the program director or designee.
• Provide client monitoring and linkage to appropriate services within LSSI and other community agencies.
• Complete and submit all necessary reports, billing, and documentation accurately and on time as required by agency and funding sources.
• Communicate with supervisor, work group and collateral agencies regarding individuals and/or family’s needs.
