Job summary

Chesterfield County Department of Social Services is seeking a Family Services Aide to support child welfare work, including assisting with investigations, family assessments, and record management. You will conduct home visits, attend court hearings, and supervise parent-child visits while handling transportation duties as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma supplemented with post-secondary coursework in social work, human services, gerontology, or related fields, plus relevant public administrative support experience.
• Considerable knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services, including needs assessment and customer satisfaction evaluation.
• Some knowledge of laws, regulations and policies of Local, State, and Federal social, assistance and housing programs.

Responsibilities

• Assist family services staff in child welfare, particularly Child Protective Services.
• Transcribe interviews conducted during investigations and family assessments.
• Assist with redacting and organizing records for appeals.
• Conduct home visits and attend court hearings; provide transportation in county vehicle; supervise parent-child visits.
