Job summary

Oregon Department of Human Services is seeking a Child Protective Services (CPS) Worker to join the Alberta office after training at Midtown Branch. You will respond to referrals, interview families, assess safety, gather collateral and testify in court.

Minimum qualifications include a completed degree in Human Services or related field, a valid driver's license, and the ability to work with diverse populations in office, home, and community settings.

Qualifications

• Educational requirement per ORS 419B.021; degree must be completed.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record are required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Two years of Human Services related experience, or coursework/certification comparable to Oregon Caseworker Competency.

Responsibilities

• Respond to referrals and determine if child abuse or neglect has occurred.
• Interview parents and children to gather information.
• Observe and analyze safety of home environments.
• Gather collateral information from school personnel, doctors, therapists, and law enforcement.
• Fulfill documentation requirements and enter information into databases.
