Qualifications

  • Six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1 or completion of the County Social Casework Intern program.
  • A bachelor's degree with a social welfare major or a bachelor’s degree which includes 12 credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of professional social casework experience.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in related social sciences.
  • Educational requirements may be met within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
  • PA residency requirement is waived for this title.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

  • Casework Services: Provide guidance to children and families to support safety, permanence, and overall well‑being.
  • Family Contacts: Maintain frequent contact with children, parents, and foster parents to address concerns and support progress.
  • Interviews and Visits: Conduct interviews, home visits, and meetings to assess safety and understand family needs.
  • Documentation Tasks: Prepare forms, maintain case records, and complete correspondence according to agency standards.
  • Database Use: Use the CAPS system to enter and review information in a timely and accurate manner.
  • After‑Hours Response: Respond to emergency calls after hours and investigate reports when assigned.
