Job summary

Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe is seeking a dedicated Case Manager to provide comprehensive services to children and families involved in or at risk of entering the Child Welfare system. The role focuses on preventing removals, strengthening family dynamics, and promoting child safety and well‑being within a stable home environment.

The position requires a relevant degree with preference for a Social Work background, strong communication skills, and the ability to work within tribal codes and state

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field preferred; AA considered if currently enrolled
• Three letters of recommendation from outside the Division required
• Experience with Native American children and families preferred
• Knowledge of Leech Lake Tribal Codes related to Child Welfare Services required or willingness to learn
• Familiarity with Title IV-E Tribal/State Agreement or willingness to learn
• Knowledge of Minnesota Indian Family Preservation Act and ICWA is preferred
• Strong verbal and written communication and customer service skills

Responsibilities

• Be on call and respond to crisis situations within the community.
• Manage a potentially high client caseload of families residing within the Leech Lake Reservation boundaries.
• Develop a case plan with families and monitor to ensure goals are achieved.
• Provide support and motivation to families in reaching their goals.
• Conduct home visits and coordinate meetings with other resource agencies.
• Attend Case Review Team meetings and provide court reports as required.
• Facilitate supervised visits and maintain confidentiality and professional ethics.
