Description

Child Welfare Case Managers participate in staff development, maintain child welfare certification through ongoing training, and work cooperatively with team members and community resources. Responsibilities include maintaining relationships with children, families, and supervisory staff, completing case notes, attending court activities, developing reports, conducting assessments, making referrals, arranging placements, and facilitating family contacts.

Position Responsibilities
  1. Participate in staff development and maintain child welfare certification.
  2. Support team members and assist on cases as needed.
  3. Maintain relationships with supervisory staff, utilizing supervision effectively.
  4. Coordinate with community resource providers to facilitate referrals and continuity of care.
  5. Build and maintain relationships with children and families, focusing on permanency, satisfaction, and safety.
  6. Complete accurate, up-to-date case notes and enter data according to policy.
  7. Attend court activities, testify, and provide case updates.
  8. Develop and complete required reports and assessments on schedule.
  9. Participate in case staffings.
  10. Conduct child safety assessments regularly.
  11. Make necessary referrals for services.
  12. Arrange emergency placements and services.
  13. Search for and document efforts to locate parents and family members.
  14. Complete home studies for placements.
  15. Plan and facilitate family visits.
  16. Conduct minimum monthly face-to-face contacts with children and family members.
  17. Review family progress towards case plan goals.
  18. Support foster and adoptive families.
  19. Negotiate subsidy agreements and complete adoption paperwork when applicable.
  20. Achieve adoption goals as set.
Qualifications

Education, Experience, and Skills: Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field, with at least one year of relevant experience. Must obtain child welfare certification, possess a current Background Clearance, a valid driver’s license, and be insurable. Skills include understanding risk factors for child abuse and neglect, and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
