Job summary

The Bob Hoffman Dover YMCA is seeking a caring, energetic Child Watch Attendant to provide a welcoming space where children can play, learn, and thrive while their parents participate in YMCA programs. If you enjoy working with children and creating positive experiences for families, this is a great opportunity to join a mission-driven team.

Part-time schedule includes Mondays & Wednesdays from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with occasional Saturdays.

Qualifications

• Minimum six months of experience working with children.
• Current Adult & Pediatric CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications.
• Mandated Reporter Training.
• PA State Police Clearance, Child Abuse Clearance, and FBI Fingerprint Clearance.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
• Ability to remain calm, attentive, and professional in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide attentive supervision for children in a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment.
• Lead age-appropriate activities, games, and creative play opportunities.
• Support daily routines, including cleanup, handwashing, and restroom assistance as needed.
• Utilize positive behavior guidance techniques to encourage respectful interactions and a welcoming atmosphere.
• Follow YMCA health, safety, infection-control, and child protection procedures.
• Respond appropriately to emergencies and implement established safety protocols.
• Complete incident reports and required documentation accurately and promptly.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and child-friendly environment.
• Communicate effectively with parents, caregivers, and fellow staff members to ensure a positive experience for all families.
