Job summary

YMCA of the Treasure Coast is seeking a Child Watch Staff member to supervise children while parents attend classes or activities. You will create a safe, engaging environment and support children's social, emotional, and physical development.

Responsibilities include supervising children, leading age-appropriate activities, and ensuring a clean, welcoming space. Prior childcare experience helps; flexibility for evenings/weekends is required. Complimentary YMCA membership is included.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior childcare/educational setting experience preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to supervise and engage children with age-appropriate activities.
• Flexible to work evenings and weekends.

Join our vibrant team at the YMCA as a Child Watch Staff member, where you will play a vital role in creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for children while their parents or guardians participate in fitness classes, programs, or other activities. Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise children in the Child Watch area, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times
• Engage children in age-appropriate activities, games, and crafts to promote social, emotional, and physical development
• Monitor and maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment
• Enforce YMCA policies and safety procedures consistently
• Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding their child's needs and behavior
• Report any concerns or incidents to appropriate staff members promptly
• Assist with setup and cleanup of activity areas as needed

Requirements

Skills and Qualifications:

• Previous experience working with children in a childcare, camp, or educational setting preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to remain attentive, patient, and nurturing in a dynamic environment
• Basic knowledge of child safety and emergency procedures
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional childcare certifications are a plus
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends
