Job summary

City Center YMCA in Lancaster, PA is seeking a caring, energetic Part-Time Child Watch Attendant to supervise children and create a safe, playful environment while families participate in YMCA programs. This role offers 10–15 hours per week with weekday evenings and weekend shifts.

Shifts include 4:30 PM–8:00 PM on weekdays and 9:00 AM–3:00 PM on weekends, with benefits such as free access to YMCA facilities, program discounts, and complimentary Child Watch services when available.

Qualifications

• CPR/AED/First Aid certification required or ability to obtain.
• Mandated Reporter and Child Abuse Prevention training required or ability to obtain.
• PA State Police Clearance, Child Abuse Clearance, and FBI Fingerprint Clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision to children in a safe, positive, and nurturing environment.
• Lead age-appropriate games, activities, crafts, and play experiences that encourage engagement and social interaction.
• Utilize positive behavior guidance techniques to support a respectful and welcoming atmosphere.
• Assist with daily routines, transitions, clean-up activities, and organization of the Child Watch area.
• Follow YMCA health, safety, infection-control, and handwashing procedures at all times.
• Respond appropriately to emergencies and implement established safety and evacuation procedures.
• Complete incident reports and maintain accurate documentation as required.
• Communicate professionally with parents, caregivers, and fellow staff members.
• Support light cleaning, sanitizing, and maintenance responsibilities to keep the space safe and inviting.
• Act as a mandated reporter and follow all child abuse prevention and reporting policies.

The City Center YMCA is looking for caring, energetic, and dependable Child Watch Attendants to provide a safe, engaging environment for children while parents and caregivers participate in YMCA programs and wellness activities. Schedule

Part-time position averaging 10-15 hours per week, including:

• Weekday evenings: 4:30 PM-8:00 PM

• Current Adult & Pediatric CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications required or ability to obtain.
• Mandated Reporter and Child Abuse Prevention training required or ability to obtain.
• PA State Police Clearance, Child Abuse Clearance, and FBI Fingerprint Clearance required.
• Experience working with children preferred.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
• Emotional maturity, sound judgment, and a commitment to child safety.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Compensation

$10.00-$12.00 per hour
