Job summary

YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is hiring a Part-Time Child Watch Attendant at the Lakewood Family YMCA in Lakewood, WA. The role supports children ages 6 weeks to 7 years while parents use YMCA facilities.

Work is mornings or evenings, up to 25 hours per week, with a wage around $17.13 per hour and benefits for all employees. Ideal candidates are at least 15 years old with related experience, a positive demeanor, and the ability to pass background checks.

Qualifications

• Comfort and confidence working with children.

• CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications preferred.
• Ability to pass background and reference checks.

Responsibilities

• Care for children ages 6 weeks to 7 years.
• Monitor drop-off and pick-up of children.
• Play actively with children, adapting activities to each child.
• Communicate with parents about behavior and safety.
• Maintain cleanliness and order in the child watch area.

Job description

Wage: $17.13 to $17.13 per hour(Compensation is determined based on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications, with most new hires starting between the minimum and midpoint of the posted wage range)

Hours: Part-Time, Up to 25 hours per week

Location: Lakewood Family YMCA, Lakewood, WA

Schedule Details: Monday - Friday Morning Shift 7:45AM to 12:15PM or Evening Shift 3:45PM to 8:15PM

As aChild Watch Attendant, you will ensure a safe, caring, and fun learning environment for children ages 6 weeks to 7 years while parents are utilizing the YMCA facilities.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 15 years of age or older.
• Six months or more of related experience (preferred).
• Comfort and confidence working with children.
• Demonstrated positive attitude and professional demeanor.
• Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications (preferred).
• Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).
• Committed to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
• Able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day, and other online and in-person training as required.

Key Responsibilities:
