Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Brandywine is seeking a Child Watch Associate to provide a safe, caring environment for children in YMCA care. You will collaborate with your supervisor to create a fun and engaging birthday experience while engaging with parents and children in a positive way to support the YMCA’s mission.

Responsibilities include supervising children, maintaining safe play spaces, keeping records, greeting families, and following all YMCA policies.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED preferred.
• Must be at least 15 years of age or older.
• Experience with children preferred.
• Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications within 90 days of hire.

• Oversee the safety and whereabouts of the children in the group at all times, providing a safe, interactive program.
• Maintain a clean and risk-free room arrangement.
• Maintain records, including accident and incident reports, sign in/out sheets, and attendance records.
• Greet parents and children daily using names in all interactions.
• Report and/or direct parental concerns to supervisor.
• Use positive, age-appropriate behavior management tools, including redirection and positive reinforcement, using the Y voice at all times.
• Ensure compliance with YMCA policies and standard operating procedures.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education

High school diploma or GED preferred

The Child Watch Associate is responsible for providing a safe and caring environment for children while in YMCA care. The Child Watch Associate works with their supervisor to create a fun and engaging birthday at the YMCA. Engages with parents and children in a positive way in both Child Watch to further the mission of the YMCA of Greater Brandywine.
