Job summary

OKDHS is seeking a Child Support Specialist I/II to initiate and process child support enforcement cases in Miami, Oklahoma and nearby Jay. The role offers full state employee benefits and two salary levels (Level I and Level II).

Responsibilities include reviewing cases, preparing records, and negotiating settlements. Eligible for full state benefits, valid driver's license and insurance required; position is full-time and civil service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience for Specialist I
• Specialist II requires bachelor’s + 1 year professional experience, or master/JD, or paralegal education with 2 years experience
• Paralegal education programs recognized by ABA may fulfill requirements
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for bachelor’s degree as noted

Responsibilities

• Review, analyze, and evaluate child support cases for establishment/enforcement actions
• Prepare records of payment, pleadings, and correspondence
• Update computer records and perform locate activities
• Negotiate settlements and agreed orders
• Mediate between parties and resolve child support issues
• Monitor and manage case log
• Communicate effectively by phone and in person
• Other duties as assigned

Bachelor’s degree

Associate’s degree – Legal Assistance

Associate’s degree – Public Service – Legal Case Management

American Bar Association–approved paralegal education program

Master’s degree

Juris Doctorate
