Job summary

Oklahoma Department Of Human Services seeks a Child Support Specialist I/II in Oklahoma City to initiate and process child support enforcement cases. Level I requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/experience; Level II allows a bachelor’s plus one year of related work, or a master’s/JD, or paralegal-education with two years in the field.

Position is full-time with eligibility for full state benefits and travel as needed. Valid driver's license and car insurance are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• For Specialist I: associate degree options in Legal Assistance or Paralegal Education, Public Service – Legal Case Management, or ABA-approved program.
• Specialist II acceptsBachelor’s degree with 1 year of professional experience, or Master’s, or JD, or related paralegal education with 2 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Review, analyze, and evaluate child support cases for establishment/enforcement actions.
• Prepare records of payment, legal pleadings, and correspondence.
• Update computer records, perform locate activities, document case activity.
• Negotiate settlements and agreed orders.
• Mediate between parties and resolve child support issues.
• Monitor and manage case log.
• Communicate effectively by phone and in person.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education

Bachelor's degree

Associate’s degree in Legal Assistance or paralegal education

Associate’s degree in Public Service – Legal Case Management

American Bar Association-approved paralegal education program

Master’s degree

Juris Doctor degree

Equivalent combination of education and experience
