Job summary

Springfield School District 186 is seeking a Child Development Associate for the Project SCOPE program in Springfield, IL. The role supports school-age children with a focus on dignity, inclusion, and family engagement.

Starting date is immediate; work is full-time with 203 days per year and 5 hours per day (6 on Wednesdays). Training provided; CPR/First Aid certification required or provided.

Qualifications

• Warm, positive attitude and an ability to relate with children and adults.
• Willingness to fulfill the program goals.
• Prefer degree in Child Care, teaching or related area of study.
• Take any required online training classes (Gateways).
• Become CPR and First Aid certified (Project SCOPE will provide the class).
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Ability to work a split shift.

Responsibilities

• Collect fees from parents and maintain all bookkeeping records.
• Assist in overseeing the Project SCOPE program in an elementary school in cooperation with the Project SCOPE office and the principal of the assigned school.
• Meet the needs of the individual child and treat each child with dignity and respect.
• Establish a positive liaison with parents and children.
• Assume an equal share of housekeeping responsibilities with the staff.
• Attend staff meetings and participate in training programs.
• Support the school’s rules and staff members.
• Other duties as assigned by the Coordinator or Assistant Coordinator.
