Job summary

The Blake School in Hopkins, MN is seeking a Child Care Substitute Teacher to provide on-call care for children aged 3 months to 4 years. Shifts run between 7:00 am and 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with potential summer hours.

You will support staff implementing a progressive, emergent Reggio-inspired curriculum, monitor children's development, and maintain a safe, inviting learning environment. Required CPR and First Aid, plus SUIDS and AHT training prior to starting.

Position Overview

The Child Care Substitute Teacher provides on-call care and learning services to children ages 3 months to 4 years. Work hours are anytime between 7am and 5:30pm, Monday through Friday. Summer program hours may be available. Licensing requires CPR and first aid training and online (one hour each) SUIDS and AHT training prior to working at the child care. Additional educational training is required for a substitute teacher to work more than 500 hours during the year. All required training is paid by the child care.

• Assist staff in implementing a progressive Reggio-inspired emergent curriculum designed for children ages 3 months to 4 years old
• Monitor and support the physical, cognitive, social and emotional well-being of the children
• Support each child's individual needs, interests and growth as well as the collaborative, creative process of the group experience
• Help maintain an organized, clean and aesthetically pleasing environment
• Maintain vigilant attention to and resolve any safety concerns that arise from the facility or the children
• Communicate effectively with families

Minimum Qualifications

• Knowledge of children's social, emotional, cognitive and physical developmental stages

Physical Requirements

• Position involves lifting, bending, squatting, reaching and pushing
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds
• Must be able to get up and down to the floor numerous times throughout the day
