United Neighborhood Centers of NEPA seeks a Child Care Staff (Assistant Group Supervisor) in Scranton, PA. This role supports classroom activities and daily routines, helping keep the center running smoothly and providing a safe, engaging environment for children.

The ideal candidate is dependable, energetic, patient, organized, and a team player who can assist in various tasks and adapt to the center’s needs, with opportunities for higher-level roles if qualified.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Associates or Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education or related field is preferred.
• Experience working with children is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answer phones, manage office schedule, and greet clients professionally and promptly.
• Supervise small groups of children during activities.
• Assist in food preparation and serving; assist in monthly food inventory.
• Assist co-workers in all aspects of Child Care operation.
• Assist co-workers in ensuring Center compliance with regulations for Child Care operations.
• Participate in weekly Center staff meetings.
• Take responsibility for opening and closing the Center.
• Plan and implement daily program activities under Center Director guidance.
• Perform administrative and other tasks to ensure smooth operation of the center.

This position is located in Scranton, PA.

Full and Part-time opportunities available.

Options for schedule/hours:

• 30.5 hours/week: 6:30-8:30am OR 7-9am and 2-6pm (1:30-6 on Tuesday's)
• 20.5 hours/week: 2-6pm (1:30-6 on Tuesday's)

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Center Director, the Child Care Staff (Assistant Group Supervisor) will work with our Group Supervisors to coordinate the educational, social, emotional, and physical development of the children in the program.

• Duties will include answering phones, managing an office schedule, and greeting clients in a professional and timely manner.
• Supervise small groups of children during activities.
• Assist in food preparation and serving, as directed by Group Supervisor; assist in monthly food inventory.
• Assist co-workers in all aspects of Child Care operation.
• Assist co-workers in ensuring the Center’s compliance with regulations concerning operations in the Child Care Center.
• Participate in weekly Center staff meetings.
• Assume responsibility for opening and closing the Center.
• Plan and implement daily program activities under the guidance of the Center Director.
• Perform tasks, administrative and otherwise, to insure smooth operation of child care center.
• Experience in Child Care and/or a degree in child services preferred.

Education/Experience/Licensure:

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Associates or Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education or related field is preferred.
• Experience working with children is preferred.
