Job summary

The Greater Philadelphia YMCA is seeking an experienced childcare professional for the Fort Washington Elementary School location in Fort Washington, PA. You will support learning, implement curriculum, and engage with a diverse group of children in a caring environment.

Requirements include a degree in education or related field, 2+ years of verified childcare experience, and the ability to pass all required clearances; join a team that values community impact and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Degree from an accredited college or university in an education or human services related field.
• 2+ years verified child care experience (2500 hours).
• Passionate about working with children in a fun, diverse environment.
• Ability to pass all relevant clearances and trainings.

Responsibilities

• Find new and engaging ways to help kids learn, while maintaining environments that build children’s self-esteem.
• Implement and plan curriculum for program; ensure child-centered, developmentally appropriate learning in classrooms using positive reinforcement.
• Conduct and record weekly child observations and any related to behavior concerns or development that may require early intervention with parents/guardians.
• Communicate effectively and promptly with parents/guardians regarding children’s program experience and progress, maintaining confidentiality.
• Maintain daily attendance records, emergency contact binders, allergy reports, and compliant paperwork within timesheets and reports.
• Maintain centers with quality learning materials, organized in labelled containers for learning centers.
• Attend team-planning meetings monthly or more as needed.
• Campaign for Annual Campaign and develop donors and volunteers.
• Supervise all staff on site.

What is needed for this job

Achievement of a degree from an accredited college or university in an education or human services related field

The responsibilities we will trust you with:

Finding new and engaging ways to help kids learn, while maintaining control of environments that build children’s self esteem

Implement and plan curriculum for program; ensuring child centered and developmentally appropriate learning experiences throughout classrooms using positive reinforcement for behavioral management

Conduct and record weekly child observations as well as any related to child behavior concerns or development that may require early intervention with parents/guardians

Being patient and kind with our parents/guardians, communicating effectively and in a timely manner regarding children’s program experience, progress (written as well as verbal) while maintaining confidentiality and sensitivity

Accurately maintain daily attendance records, emergency contact binders, and allergy reports, as well as compliant paperwork within timesheets, incident reports, weekly reports, and child observation reports

Ensure centers are maintained with quality learning materials, organized accordingly in labeled containers associated with appropriate learning center

Attend team-planning meetings monthly or more as needed

Actively campaign for the Annual Campaign and work to develop donors and volunteers

Supervise all staff on site
