Job summary

The Greater Philadelphia YMCA is seeking an experienced childcare professional for the 2026-2027 school year. The role offers a pay range of $17.50–$18.50 per hour with a flexible schedule and access to YMCA membership across branches.

Ideal candidates hold a degree in education or a related field and have at least 2 years of verified childcare experience. You will implement curriculum, observe progress, communicate with families, and supervise on-site staff in a supportive, non-profit

Qualifications

• 2+ years verified child care experience (2500 hours).
• Degree in an education or human services field from an accredited college or university.
• Ability to pass relevant clearances and stay current on trainings.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement curriculum for program; ensure child-centered, developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
• Plan engaging activities to promote children’s self-esteem and learning.
• Conduct weekly child observations and address any behavior concerns with parents/guardians.
• Communicate effectively with parents/guardians about program progress while maintaining confidentiality.
• Maintain attendance records, emergency contact binders, allergy reports, and related paperwork.
• Ensure learning centers are well-stocked and organized with labeled materials.
• Attend monthly team-planning meetings and support fundraising campaigns.
• Supervise all on-site staff.

What Is Needed For This Job

• Achievement of a degree from an accredited college or university in an education or human services related field
• 2+ years verified child care experience (2500 hours)
• Passionate about working with children in a fun, diverse environment
• Ability to pass all relevant clearances and keep up to date on trainings

The responsibilities we will trust you with

• Finding new and engaging ways to help kids learn, while maintaining control of environments that build children’s self esteem
• Implement and plan curriculum for program; ensuring child centered and developmentally appropriate learning experiences throughout classrooms using positive reinforcement for behavioral management
• Conduct and record weekly child observations as well as any related to child behavior concerns or development that may require early intervention with parents/guardians
• Being patient and kind with our parents/guardians, communicating effectively and in a timely manner regarding children’s program experience, progress (written as well as verbal) while maintaining confidentiality and sensitivity
• Accurately maintain daily attendance records, emergency contact binders, and allergy reports, as well as compliant paperwork within timesheets, incident reports, weekly reports, and child observation reports
• Ensure centers are maintained with quality learning materials, organized accordingly in labeled containers associated with appropriate learning center
• Attend team-planning meetings monthly or more as needed
• Actively campaign for the Annual Campaign an work to develop donors and volunteers
• Supervise all staff on site
