This position will support the overall mission of Catholic Charities and the Child and Adult Food Program in collaboration with the Child Care Nutrition Program Manager. This position will be responsible for supporting onboarding and mentoring of Child Care Nutrition Specialists to conduct monitoring visits for licensed childcare providers and processing monthly claims. This position will also hold a caseload of licensed childcare providers.

Responsibilities

Lead Responsibilities:

  • Provide onboarding support for Child Care Nutrition Program/Monitoring Specialists throughout the CAFP catchment areas
  • Provide ongoing mentorship for Child Care Nutrition Program/Monitoring Specialists to ensure quality and fidelity of monitoring visit expectations as outlined by OSPI for licensed childcare centers and family child care homes
  • In collaboration with the Child Care Nutrition Program Manager, support ongoing view of Catholic Charities Child Care Nutrition Program Policies and Procedures to ensure they are updated and aligned with USDA and OSPI requirements
  • Take lead responsibility for outreach and recruitment efforts of licensed childcare centers to support program expansion
  • Support attendance at local, regional and statewide meetings as assigned

Child Care Nutrition Program Specialist Responsibilities

  • Traveling within an assigned area throughout Washington, enroll and train new providers, carry out timely 30-day training visits, subsequent monitoring, and technical assistance visits, as needed.
  • Maintain phone contact and written letters to perspective providers and centers.
  • Monitor participating provider homes as well as childcare centers as requested by manager:
    • Determine the quantity and quality of meals served.
    • Determine if meals served are eligible and served under sanitary conditions.
    • Inspect and evaluate all pertinent attendance records, menus, and meal counts.
    • Give required assistance to providers and centers.
    • Determine appropriate corrective actions and follow-up.
    • Provide a completed monitor report to Program Manager
    • Staff with Program Manager observations which may be out of compliance with license regulations.
    • Assist with claim processing
    • Participate in regular supervision, according to agency policy.
    • Assist with any other office duties as designated by the Program Director
    • Travel could be up to 50% of the job.

    Physical Requirements

    This position normally requires the physical demands of standing, walking, bending, lifting or performing other work requiring low physical exertion, talking, hearing and adequate vision to be able to operate an automobile and perform for the job duties on a regular basis. These physical demands are required up to 80% of the time.

    Non-Physical Requirements

    Education

    • High School Diploma or GED required
    • AA degree preferred

    Experience

    • Child Care Experience preferred

    • Demonstrate basic computer literacy skills
    • Ability to work individually and as a team member
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish) required

    Licensure, Registration, Certification

    • Valid Washington State driver’s license and minimum required liability insurance for WA State
    • Must be deemed insurable as determined by Catholic Charities’ liability insurance provider

    Employment Is Conditional Upon

    • Being cleared by criminal background check and fingerprinting when required

    Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 7 am-4 pm

    Wage Range: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour depending on experience
