Job summary

New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is seeking a Child Care Inspection Supervisor to ensure compliance of child care services throughout NYC.

The role involves supervising inspectors, enforcing health code and social service regulations, and conducting inspections and follow-ups to protect children's health and safety. Candidates should have relevant science education and experience in public health inspections.

Qualifications

• Eligible for permanent status or promotion to Associate Public Health Sanitarian (Exam No. 6513).
• Minimum degree and experience requirements in physical/biological sciences and public health inspections.
• Promotion requires 2 years supervisory experience in public health sanitation.

Responsibilities

• Assign, supervise and evaluate Child Care Inspectors.
• Enforce regulations and oversee field inspections and monitoring visits.
• Conduct follow-up visits and assess program performance for compliance.
• Inspect facilities with potential health hazards and issue notices of violation or permits decisions.
• Review databases and case files for accurate records and timely entries.
• Respond to inquiries from the public and other agencies.
• Train staff and provide reinforcement training on protocols and regulations.
