Job summary

The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene seeks an Associate Investigator (Not PR) to enforce background checks for childcare providers and staff, ensuring compliance with Article 47 and 43 of the NYC Health Code. You will review records, issue eligibility notices, and coordinate outreach to providers and families.

The role requires strong investigative skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex regulations to diverse audiences.

Qualifications

• Four-year HS diploma and five years of investigative experience.
• Associate degree with four years of experience.
• Bachelor’s degree with two years of experience.
• Education/experience equivalent to above.

Responsibilities

• Provide citywide education and outreach on background clearances for licensing.
• Compose eligibility letters and explain clearance results to providers.
• Coordinate resources and liaise with City/State agencies and the public.
• Oversee daily communications with child care programs on compliance with Health Code.
