Job summary

New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene seeks a Child Care Registrar for licensing activities. The role involves liaising between City and State agencies, guiding providers on regulations, and handling complaints about unsafe programs.

Responsibilities include outreach, technical assistance, documentation review, and presenting to groups to promote licensed care options. Some travel to Albany for training and state meetings is required with expenses paid by the agency.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities related to duties described above.
• Education and/or experience equivalent to the above qualification.

Responsibilities

• Assist child care providers by liaison functions between City and State agencies, community groups, parents and the general public.
• Assist licensed providers in interpreting and complying with applicable State and City Child Care Regulations.
• Instruct the public on how to file a complaint about a child care program that appears unsafe, unhealthy or operating illegally.
• Coordinate outreach and provide technical assistance to child care providers to help attain or renew a license.
• Review required documentation from child care providers and perform related case management and office support work.
• Conduct presentations and workshops to promote licensed Child Care options.
• Travel to Albany, NY for training and statewide meetings; expenses paid by the agency.
