Job summary

UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital seeks a dedicated full-time Psychiatric Nurse for the Child and Adolescent Unit (CAI) on the 3rd floor in Oakland. Three 12-hour day/evening shifts, 22-bed unit, responsible for assessments, care planning, and medications.

Starting rate $35.75 (BSN $37.25); sign-on bonus up to $15,000 with two-year commitment. BSN preferred; RN licensure required; CPR/BLS; six months of clinical psychiatry experience preferred; incumbent must be able to provide direct total

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved School of Nursing is required.
• RN license is required.
• BSN degree is preferred.
• Six months of clinical psychiatry experience is preferred.
• Successful completion of orientation and medication proficiency examination.

Responsibilities

• Conduct nursing assessments and develop initial plans of care within 8 hours of admission.
• Document in the medical record per policy and educate patients about hospitalization.
• Administer medications safely with documentation per policy.
• Maintain current knowledge of psychiatric medications and patient responses.
• Participate in treatment planning, crisis management, and interdisciplinary team activities.
