Job summary

UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital in Oakland (CED 7th Floor) seeks a dedicated Psychiatric Nurse to support the Center for Eating Disorders. The unit is a 10-bed inpatient program for adults and adolescents. Evening/night shifts, 8- and 12-hour rotations with rotating weekends.

Starting rate of $35.75 (BSN $37.25); sign-on bonus up to $15,000, with increases commensurate with experience. BSN preferred; RN licensure required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved School of Nursing.
• RN licensure in applicable state with CPR/BLS.
• Six months of experience in Clinical Psychiatry preferred.
• BSN preferred and willingness to obtain required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Performs a nursing assessment and initial plan of care within 8 hours of patient's admission.
• Orients/educates patient regarding hospitalization and care plan.
• Documents in the medical record according to established policies.
• Maintains knowledge of medication policies, dosages and patient response.
• Completes medication administration safely and accurately.
• Participates in interdisciplinary activities and quality improvement.
