Job summary

UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital in Oakland is seeking a dedicated part-time Psychiatric Nurse to support the Child and Adolescent II unit. The position features two 12-hour day/evening shifts in a 12-bed unit focused on adolescents aged 13–18 with bipolar disorder.

Starting GN rate is $35.75/hour (BSN $37.25/hour), with potential increases based on nursing experience. BSN preferred and AHA CPR/clearance requirements apply.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved School of Nursing.
• BSN preferred.
• Six months of experience in Clinical Psychiatry preferred.
• Must be able to provide direct total physical care to potentially violent patients.

Responsibilities

• Performs nursing assessments and initial plans of care within 8 hours of admission.
• Documents in the medical record per policies.
• Maintains knowledge of medication policies and side effects.
• Executes medication administration safely and accurately.
• Participates in unit-based programs and performance improvement activities.
• Mentors students and new employees.
